As you may already know, we are among the nursing homes in Houston, Texas, to have residents and staff test positive for COVID-19.
Since taking over the nursing home on March 13, 2020, the day that President Trump declared the National State of Emergency, we initiated rigid, disciplined protocols to safeguard, protect and monitor the care of our residents, and we implemented guidelines with intense focus on the health and safety of our staff. These measures were imperatives from the CDC, CMS, Texas HHSC and our Local Health Department, and we further strengthened our systems with strict oversight standards.
After learning about the positive diagnosis in our community, we rapidly contracted with a lab recommended by our physicians to secure comprehensive testing of our residents and staff. We expect to have the initial results of those tests returned to us in an expeditious manner.
We have care planning ready to be implemented for COVID-19 positive residents, particularly with regards to quarantine and isolation procedures. We will also launch protective processes for our staff, who may also test positive for the Coronavirus. We will sustain rigid infection control practices and protocols for our residents and staff throughout the coming days, until we conquer the reality of this hideous challenge.
We also have significant supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE). We have tremendous support from our physicians and our hospitals, along with guidance and resources from the County Health Department and the State of Texas HHSC office.
Our staff continues to be devoted and loyal to helping us keep our residents healthy and well until we see their symptoms subside.
